DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
This
project is a three-phased replacement of the South Broward High
School to construct the Broward County Marine Magnet High School
of the School District which was completed one year ahead of
schedule. The project consisted of 160,000 SF new construction and 68,000 SF in renovations.
Phases
included demolition of eight buildings, construction of three
new three-story classroom buildings and administrative facilities
and renovations of four existing facilities and additions to two
others.
The
project includes 48 new state of the art classrooms; Laboratories
for Marine Biology/Chemistry, Communications Technology, Art and
Ceramic, Practical Experience, Commercial Foods, Technical Resource,
Child Care, Construction Technology, and JROTC; all remodeled
Administrative and Guidance spaces; Marine Service and Technology
spaces; a new Kitchen Addition and renovated Cafeteria; and numerous
HVAC, Fire Safety, and ADA upgrades throughout the campus.
