BLAKE LIBRARY AND ADMINISTRATION FACILITY

Stuart, Florida

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

This project, described as the "Crown Jewel" of Martin County's public facilities is home to their main library and auditorium. In addition to housing the counties largest collection, the 39,000 SF, two story library serves as the administrative facility for the entire county library system. The auditorium was designed to be utilized as both, a public meeting place and a community center that serves the needs of the residents.

The construction consisted of a structural steel frame with non-load bearing exterior masonry walls and a glass curtain wall system. The roof system consisted of single ply roofing on the flat roof areas and clay roof tiles by Ludowici on the sloped areas. Interior features included a complete audio/visual system, extensive computer technology systems and a 48 foot atrium that was visible from all floors.
