Gary Pirtle, PE, LEED AP BD+C, Vice President

As Vice President, Gary Pirtle is responsible for the overall execution of projects from concept to completion. By providing project and field management oversight, he ensures that projects not only meet Pirtle’ s high quality standards but that they are completed on time and within budget. Gary is an excellent leader whose team building skills assist in leading architects, subcontractors and construction teams in finding the best solutions and options for clients. He is driven to ensuring that all team members meet the project goals and ultimately exceed client’s expectations.

Gary has more than 36 years of construction management experience.  He joined Pirtle Construction in 2001 after more than 20 years with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps, where he served as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer and retired at the rank of Commander. While serving in the Navy, Gary worked on numerous MILCON and Navy Special Projects including housing, barracks, jet aviation fueling facilities, runway repairs / extensions, and pier construction. This experience with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps provided him with construction management skills in interdisciplinary engineering, construction contracting, and utilities management.

Since joining Pirtle Construction eleven years ago, Gary has been responsible for the construction of more than 30 education and municipal projects in Broward, Palm Beach, Indian River and Martin Counties. Some notable projects include Florida Atlantic University’s LEED Gold Certified Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, the School District of Palm Beach County’s LEED Gold Certified Pine Jog Elementary School (the first LEED Gold K-12 facility in Florida), and the City of Palm Beach Gardens LEED Silver Certified Emergency Operations and Communications Center. Currently, Gary is overseeing the Galaxy Elementary School in Palm Beach County, slated to be a LEED Platinum school.

Pirtle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a Certified General Contractor, Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional.  Pirtle sits on the Board of Directors for the South Florida Chapter of the United States Green Building Council and is a Board Member of the South Florida ACE Mentor Program and U.S. Navy League, Fort Lauderdale.
